Additionally, the ADXL345 is a small, thin, ultra-low power 3-axis accelerometer with high resolution (13-bit) and a measurement range of up to ±16g. The digital output data is in 16-bit two's complement format and is accessible via SPI (3-wire or 4-wire) or I2C digital interface. The ADXL345 is ideal for mobile device applications, capable of measuring static gravitational acceleration in tilt detection applications, as well as dynamic acceleration resulting from motion or shock, with a high resolution (3.9 mg/LSB), capable of measuring tilt changes of less than 1.0°.
This device provides multiple special detection features. Activity and inactivity detection functions detect motion by comparing acceleration on any axis with user-set thresholds. The tap detection function can detect single and double tap actions in any direction. The free-fall detection function can detect if the device is falling. The patent-pending integrated memory management system uses a 32-level FIFO buffer to store data, reducing host processor load and overall system power consumption.
